Saying 'on page 3' or 'in the header of page 1' is far more reliable than 'somewhere near the top'. Page references eliminate ambiguity for the agent.
Include the precise phrase as it appears in the PDF — for example, 'replace "Acme Corp" with "Apex Ltd"' — so the agent matches it exactly rather than guessing.
If you have several changes, number them: '1. Redact the SSN on page 2. 2. Delete page 7. 3. Add a note to section 4.' This helps the agent process each change in order.
Instead of 'remove private info', say 'redact all phone numbers and email addresses'. Naming the data pattern gives the agent a clearer target to find and black out.
If there are multiple similar paragraphs, anchor your edit: 'the paragraph beginning with "As agreed on" in section 2.3'. Context clues reduce the chance of editing the wrong spot.
Rather than 'fix the list', say 'restore the five bullet points on page 4 that are currently merged into one block of text'. Describing the desired outcome gives the agent a clearer fix to aim for.

For clean, text-based PDFs, most straightforward edits — text replacement, form filling, page deletion, and basic redaction — typically complete accurately in a single pass. More complex requests, such as reformatting multi-column layouts or editing scanned documents, may require one or two prompt refinements to achieve the intended result. Font matching in edited regions is approximate rather than guaranteed, particularly with custom or embedded typefaces. Best input: the PDF plus numbered edit instructions with exact page numbers, quoted text to change, redaction targets, and any formatting that must remain untouched.
Example: Input: a 9-page PDF contract where the company name must change on page 1, a phone number must be redacted on page 4, and page 8 should be removed. Output: an edited PDF with those specific changes applied while unrelated text and formatting stay intact. Good for targeted PDF updates without rebuilding the file.
It typically handles text replacement, form filling, redaction, page reordering and deletion, image removal or substitution, annotations, and basic formatting fixes. Complex layout reconstructions or heavily scanned documents may produce mixed results.
